The list of accolades,
superlatives and rave reviews for our modest establishment
is embarrassingly long. Maloney's has been regarded
as one of the top two bars in the world for some time
now. Accordingly, we have also received some love from
the Pitch and other publications. You can read about
that below... |

With its light-wood décor and KU memorabilia, Maloney's
might look like a typical Johnson County sports bar.
Thanks to its nightly drink specials and friendly crowd,
though, it doesn't feel too cookie-cutterish. Though
the fraternity-sorority contingent makes up a good chunk
of drinkers here, the place also attracts the tattooed,
the pierced, the service-industry crowd and the married
couples. The result is a laid-back atmosphere, where
everyone is united by cheap drinks and by finding, in
Starbucks parlance, their third place (aside from home
and work) to hang out.

to deride its many stereotypes, from its sprawltastic
ways to its SUV-driving suburbanoid residents. However,
JoCo also has its pockets of coolness, such as downtown
Overland Park, and on a recent Thursday night, we headed
thataway with Research Assistant Cece to check out Maloney's.

The wide wraparound
concrete patio at Maloney's Bar and Grill rules because
of it's accessories: metal patio chairs that actually
rock like cool lounge chairs and huge umbrellas to block
out the sun of summer. The entire area is wired with
a kick-ass sound system... Click
